Solar Wall Light Cam S120 - Troubleshooting Guide for Motion Detection
Modified on: Wed, 10 Dec, 2025 at 11:28 AM
How can I avoid the motion detection of S120 Solar Wall Light Cam missing events?
The motion detection range of S120 Solar Wall Light Cam is 120°. Motion outside of this range can not be detected. For missed motion within this range, see below for some common causes and potential solutions.
Issue: The camera's motion detection sensitivity is set too low, causing motion events to be missed.
Solution: To minimize the possibility of missing motion events, you can increase the sensitivity level. Go to Camera Settings > Motion Detection and adjust the motion detection sensitivity accordingly.
Issue: When the mode is set to “Optimal Battery Life”, continuous repeated motion detections will be ignored in the interest of preserving battery life, and in this case video of events may not be recorded.
Solution: Adjust the sensitivity to a lower level, or switch the working mode to "Optimal Surveillance”. After switching, the system will prioritize recording but may use more power while working.
Issue: Small pets may not be detected if the device is installed too high.
Solution: If there are small pets at home that need to be detected, adjust the installation to a lower height.
Issue: The video recording function is not enabled in safe mode.
Solution: Make sure you have enabled Video Record and Push Notifications in the security mode you have selected. You can go to Security > Home/Away > Home/Away Settings > Video Record & Push Notification.
Issue: The device can not provide a live view and record at the same time. Recording will be paused while the "Live View", "Set Privacy Area”, or "Set Active Area" features are in use.
Solution: Avoid using these functions while the device is recording.
Why is S120 Solar Wall Light Cam's battery draining quickly, even though there are not many recordings in the recorded event list?
There could be several reasons for this:
-Stationary vehicles: Check if your camera's view is constantly capturing a parked car. When a car heats up in the sunlight, the change in temperature may trigger the Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor.
-Dark objects: Check for large dark objects within your camera's view. Dark objects absorb heat, which can trigger the Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor.
To troubleshoot these issues, adjust the placement of your camera, or temporarily remove the objects from the camera's view, and observe to see if the problem persists. For further assistance, contact customer service by emailing us.
Why are there a lot of false motion triggers showing in my event list?
There could be several reasons for this:
- Dark objects: Check for large dark objects within your camera's view. Dark objects absorb heat, which can trigger the Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor. If there are also moving objects within your camera’s view, such as a tree branch or flag blowing in the breeze, these could act as a trigger and prompt a motion recording.
To troubleshoot these issues, adjust the placement of your camera, or temporarily remove the objects from the camera's view, and observe to see if the problem persists. For further assistance, contact customer service by emailing us.
What is the detection range of the motion sensor?
It depends on the mounting height and angle. The sensor can detect objects moving as far as 19 – 26 ft (6 – 8 m) away.
Does S120 Solar Wall Light Cam detect cars and animals?
If you set the detection type as “Human Only”, it will detect humans in the daytime, and will detect all types of motion, including cars and animals, at night only. If you set the detection type as “All Motion”, it will detect all motion, including cars and animals, during both the day and night.
